I'm starting this new thread as there weren't any current ones relevant to what I'm looking for. At least that I could find after a couple of hours of searching on and off over the last couple of visits.

Has anyone found a product/service that they have used, or have some indepth knowledge of, that will work for keeping track of a car, or trailer?

I've got this fear, albeit maybe a bit paranoid, about having someone make off with my car and/or trailer. I'm looking for a device that is very compact, preferably self-contained, battery and antenna wise, and affordable.

My thought is to buy two(2) of whatever I finally settle on; 1 for the car and 1 for the trailer, that way I've got both bases covered.

I've found numerous different products out there, but I'm looking for someone who has personal experience with a GPS-based tracker.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a friend who has a small car lot. He has the GPS devices installed on cars he sells that he finances. That way, the buyer defaults, the car is EASY to find and recover. They work great.

I wish I'd had the same thing on my car hauler that got stolen last June! There is a great one that also works as a perimeter alarm. If the vehicle is moved more than, say, five feet from its' location, a call is sent to the owner of the vehicle. He then activates the GPS locator, and the vehicle can be located and recovered. It can be used on anything with wheels - trackhoes, trailers, tractors - you name it. It does need a battery source.

If you'd like, I can find out the name of the trackers. PM me and I can let you know.
