Installing a new radio in a 1969 B-Body and I came across this connector just laying behind the dash. It has 12 Volts on it but not connected to anything, does anyone have an idea where this might go? Take a look at the photos and reply if you know where it goes, thanks.

Well, I think that might be the delay timer for the headlight delay relay with a A01 light package option. I have a part on my '70 Roadrunner that looks just like it & is connected to several yellow (& pink I believe) wires. In my '70 factory service manual it is incorrectly labeled "headlight delay relay"..........the relay is square, so I think this is the timer for that relay. Here's the one I bought for my car.

Do you have a picture of the wiring, where the plug with 12 volts connects?

Unfortunately I don't & the car isn't here at work with me. It's hanging right by my shifter at the moment. If nobody chimes in, send me a private message and I will try to take a picture. If you have access to a factory service manual it's right in the wiring diagram (just labeled wrong in the '70 manual).

From what I understand, it is a timer that is connected in with your headlights, ignition key light + ?. With the A01 package, you can turn off the engine with the headlights on, then turn off the headlights & the headlights (& some other lights apparently) will stay on for a minute or two while you walk in your house. Mine has never worked (not yet anyway), so I don't know too much about it beyond that.

I think you're right as I also have the A01 Light package and the relay gets warm when the door is open and the dome light map light are on. I'm guessing the connector with the 12Volts may plug into the ash tray lamp or is there an ignition lamp over the key? Or some other lamp in the area. Can you look at your relay to see if the wire coming off is plugged in nearby?

Yellow and Pink coming in and Yellow going out it looks like the Yellow wire in the picture goes to the starter and ignition lamp switch. From looking at the diagram posted by 440+6. I'll check on that, thanks to all. It's for the light above ignition switch, which is missing. Looks like I'll need a new light assy. for ignition. Anyone have one for sale?

Also since you are into your headlight stuff you might find this interesting or useful.

Thanks, I'm missing the light over the ignition switch, that's where the 12V connector goes............
