Well.....out here on Oahu, my third trip to the islands in the last 5 years, and I love it just as much as always!
If you haven't already for sure hit the aviation museum... If you brought kids or even if you didn't the Disney Aulani is Awesome...
I could tell you about Diamond Head & Punch Bowl, Pearl Harbor & all the other common tourist spots but I'm sure you already know about all them...
Look into a dive tour... Early morning spend with the dolphins, night dive with the Manta Rays... Both are great memories for me...
FWIW I prefer the big island, if your going to a volcano it may as well be an active volcano..... But all the islands have their special points...
Actually Oahu was my second home when I was in the USAF and flying to the Pacific. Check out the Ft Darussy Museum and the storied 442 Regimental Combat Team Museum also. Quite inspiring. Head over to the Hale Koa for some of the best Mai Tai's IMHO on the Island. Dukes for a Mahi Mahi dinner. Then maybe some Golf at one of the courses in the Island. Head over to Sandy Beach/Blow Hole for a great afternoon drive. On a good clear day you can see the Island of Molokai where the annual canoe races start and finish at Waikiki. There is just so much to do there that I cannot begin to come up with more. Best dive Bar for some of the coldest beer in town is at Arnold's across from the Post Office. But one thing I never had the chance to do but is on my list is to head out for some fishing on the blue water. Fished the Pacific many a time for Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Bonitta, Tuna, etc., but never around Oahu. But most of all have a great time...cr8crshr/Bill![]()
The Big Island is our favorite as well. Wife and have been there twice, the last time it was the only island we visited, and are planning to go back. Haven't been to Kuai yet so we may add a stop there.FWIW I prefer the big island, if your going to a volcano it may as well be an active volcano..... But all the islands have their special points...
