Well.....out here on Oahu, my third trip to the islands in the last 5 years, and I love it just as much as always!

But there 3 times myself. Preferred Maui over Oahu since Waikiki is just too overcrowded for us. Get out of the Honolulu area and rest of island is beautiful. Absolutely fabulous out there and would like to visit a few more of the islands. Heard Kauai lives up to the Garden Island nickname so that will probably be our next trip out there.

I have a rental car, and we always drive miles away from from the main drag. If anyone has an idea where to go I'd love to hear it

Here are some day 1 pocs

If you haven't already for sure hit the aviation museum... If you brought kids or even if you didn't the Disney Aulani is Awesome...

I could tell you about Diamond Head & Punch Bowl, Pearl Harbor & all the other common tourist spots but I'm sure you already know about all them...

Look into a dive tour... Early morning spend with the dolphins, night dive with the Manta Rays... Both are great memories for me...

FWIW I prefer the big island, if your going to a volcano it may as well be an active volcano..... But all the islands have their special points...

Thanks for all the great tips.....I'll definitely give the aviation museum a try and the dive

Wheres Tiny Tim and his Uke? :D.

never been there. I would sure like to go there at some point in time.

Been there 3 times, 1964(Mom, Dad, Sis), 1978 Honeymoon, 2019 cruise. Oahu is really great if you have locals as guides to see more than just the tourist stuff. Wife's uncle was retired Army in Honolulu, great to get into the neighborhoods during honeymoon. Last year, brother in laws buddy & wife took whole day tour all over the island, several local "take out" spots, lunch at their house, North Shore beaches near sundown, local micro-brewery, in addition to Diamond Head.

But the Helicopter tour of volcano on Big Island was great.

Actually Oahu was my second home when I was in the USAF and flying to the Pacific. Check out the Ft Darussy Museum and the storied 442 Regimental Combat Team Museum also. Quite inspiring. Head over to the Hale Koa for some of the best Mai Tai's IMHO on the Island. Dukes for a Mahi Mahi dinner. Then maybe some Golf at one of the courses in the Island. Head over to Sandy Beach/Blow Hole for a great afternoon drive. On a good clear day you can see the Island of Molokai where the annual canoe races start and finish at Waikiki. There is just so much to do there that I cannot begin to come up with more. Best dive Bar for some of the coldest beer in town is at Arnold's across from the Post Office. But one thing I never had the chance to do but is on my list is to head out for some fishing on the blue water. Fished the Pacific many a time for Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Bonitta, Tuna, etc., but never around Oahu. But most of all have a great time...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

The Big Island is our favorite as well. Wife and have been there twice, the last time it was the only island we visited, and are planning to go back. Haven't been to Kuai yet so we may add a stop there.

Wife says if she wins the lottery we're getting a 2nd home there

Was able to hike out for an up close view of the volcano erupting during our visit in 2003. That was really cool. Went again in 2013, but the flow was not accessible from Volcano National park.

Rent some scooters, far easier to get around
far more fun too
they tow **** way too often, it's a freaken' scam
rental cars especially
then it cost a 'perty' penny to get it out & you're on the hook
they know it too
be very cautious where & when you park places

Hunami Bay (spelling) on the north side of Oahu
go buy some frozen peas & rent a mask & fins or go buy some
then go dive in that bay
lots of fish will eat out of your hand, it's great

most the rest have been covered already
lots of great food & bars if you want nightlife
especially Waikiki

you can always go surfing too
some of the best surf zones in the world there

there's some cheesy sub tours too, not too pricey
cool to see the reefs up close

I use to go there when the Pro-Bowl was there
went like 12 or 13 times over 15 or 16 years or so mid 80's to late 90's

been to all the islands, Oahu has some great golf too
I loved the golf on Maui,
but IMHFO it's far more of a couples island, slower pace

maybe take an Island hop (boat or flights) & go see a couple other islands

I've been single for over 20 years now
I live by the mantra you don't bring sand to the beach :poke:
