Having a clearance problem with a starter and headers (theres a surprise). It's a mini starter but it rests directly against the headers. Has anbody ever doubled up header gaskets to gain a little clearance. It looks like doing this wouild give me the small amount I need to insulate the starter from the heat.

Unfortunately no room for hammer tweaking or I would. I have a new set of copper gaskets and I think i will give it a shot. Nothing to lose.

i have two sets of gaskets on my headers to clear starter, and no problems

I've seen people push against the collector with their foot to try and gain clearance. I would never recommend doing that tho.....however, well made tubes with good welds at the flange would probably withstand that sort of stuff.

Tried the double copper gasket route. Didn't go well and leaked like a sieve. Going to try the Remflex gasket and try heating up and denting in the header the starter location for a little clearance

Just a thought.....Is the header flange flat and straight?

Yes. Checked that. Seems to have quieted down after 3 tightenings. We'll see
