Has anyone used the heat riser repair kit ?? Although mine is rusted in the open position, i would like to have a working part. Do the repair kits work & how hard are they to do ??
You need to remove the manifold, remove all the old heat riser parts and bushings. Install new bushings. Size bushings for proper shaft fit. If any stop pins are broken or missing you will need to fabricate and install them. Press the shaft on the the damper weight. Position spring and stop spring on damper. Assemble shaft and flap into manifold. Position damper and flap. Weld flap to shaft and install remaining spring. Put manifold back on. Just takes time to do it right. Not hard to do. The kits work fine.
Personally, I'd leave it that way.mine is rusted in the open position
