Hello,
I recently found this site and just joined up this week, it is wonderfull to see so many Mopar heads out there that have this great tool for sharing knowledge and gab.
My name is Jeff and have been a auto tech for many years and always have been partial to Mopar's ever since I started at Chrysler in the 80's, yep I had the pleasure of K-cars and Omni's to learn the ways of the wrench.
I have had many Mopar's over the years but thinned the herd after marrige and kids (my wife and I have 7). My current passion is a 73 Roadrunner that I started on about 15 years ago. I built it with the intention of just cruising town and hit the strip with every chance i get. 440/727 3:91 detroit, best traction limited rubber isolated stock suspension time of 12.03.
The RR has been in dry dock for the last few years as a 1000 mile move and finances have not allowed me to work on it. I got her out of storage and I am now in the process of pulling the motor for a much needed clean up and oil pan swap. I plan on taking the 7qt Moroso pan out for some target practice when I am done as it has caused me a great amount of grief. Even with the tortion bars cranked up it always seemed to find the high spots in the road, I am very tired of welding it up. Though I like the idea of the extra qt of oil in the pan i figure 6 in the pan beats the heck out of 7 on the road.I am going to replace it with the 6qt pan and 1/2 pick up from Miloden. I love the look of the road race pan but it sure is alot of bucks for 1 more qt of oil, I can add an accumulator later if nessesary. I am also going to add a crankcase evac sytem (the type plumbed to the headers through check valves) Has anyone out there tried these and have an opinion? The 509 cam does not offer much in the way of vacume for a pcv valve / power brakes and this motor sees alot of wot use anyway.
I tried to upload some photos but my pc iliteracy won't alow me to make the pics small enough to upload. (suggestions?) lol
