Hello All,

I just joined this site to start learning about Mopar restoration. I've been fixing and restoring classic cars for a long time, but mostly Ford and Chevy projects. Mopar seems to be a little bit of a different beast. I just picked up a 1970 Dodge Charger with a 318 CID, 2BBL carburetor, and an automatic transmission. It has factory air and is in decent condition but needs some TLC and upgrades to make it a regular traffic driver quality. I'm planning to keep it mostly stock and just enjoy it as it is. Looking forward to meeting others in here!

Very nice Charger, I'm also working on a '70. What are you planning for upgrades?
Hello!

I was thinking of front disc brakes, aluminum radiator with electric fans, electronic ignition, and maybe a 4-barrel carb with TBI/fuel injection. The factory AC needs to be fixed as well. I'm sure there will be other things that I need to fix as I peel back the layers but that's probably about it for upgrades. Are you doing a full restoration?

No, I can't afford a rotisserie job. I had body & paint done 2 winters ago and doing all the reassembly myself. My car had electronic ignition installed many years ago, and I added a Champion aluminum rad. My car had factory disk brakes already, but in the process of installing new rotors and pads. I've done quite a few clever mods to otherwise worn or damaged parts which definitely kicks me out of the full resto club. ;)

I just read your post and saw all the pics. That's still a lot of great work! I also saw the link to the 1970 Charger Registry, a lot of great info in there also. Thanks!

Thank you too. Unfortunately the 70 Charger Registry site is all but defunct other than to view historical production stats. I had a ton of my work documented there but ended up joining here to continue my project documentation.

Welcome from NY.
You have one of the best looking cars ever designed and built.

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario, Joe. You have a great looking Charger! The '70 is my favourite year, with the loop bumper. Thanks for your pictures.

Welcome to the Enlightened side!!

You'll come to understand that MoPar is it's own beast. But it's well worth it!

Now, make with some more pics of that Charger! :poke:
