Hello everyone!!

My name is Ben, I am 25 years old. I live in Pasadena, Tx and I'm engaged to a beautiful woman named Rhonda! She is the reason why I'm on this site, because if it wasn't for her... I would have never met her dad. Her dad owns two Mopars... The "running" one is a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 383 in it. The second one, which is in the "jack stand penalty box" is a 1969 Plymouth GTX with a 440 and 4 speed shifter. Her dad is old school and loves his babies (the bird and the GTX... not his wife and daughter)... he literally wants to be sandwiched between them and buried, when he passes ..... silly old fool! Anyways, I'm his work horse, when it comes to fixing them up... he claims that he's getting too old to turn a wrench... excuses... excuses :tongueflap: ... I'm kidding. I'm learning as I go, I take my time, and I'm very miticulous when it comes to the cars. My fiancee Rhonda, is presently serving our country in Iraq... so me and her dad have been spending a lot of time together, working on the cars. I hope to learn, learn, learn, learn!! I've looked all over the net and fianlly stumbled upon this forum. See y'all in the forums!!

Welcome to the site. Ex south Texas resident myself. I have a B5 runner almost identical to your father-in-law's, except I went and put a big, ole Superbird wing on mine for grins. Now people go crazy when they see it.

Welcome to FBBO! Beautiful car!

Your close to home buddy! As a matter of a fact, my fiancee's dad lives right there by Eagle Lake.... he's the one who owns the cars. I'm out there every weekend working. Maybe I'll see you at the Wallis "Fine Rides Auto Fest" this October. We'll have to hook up and go for a cruise one of these days.

Also, I have to make a correction on myself... the GTX is in fact a 1968, not a 1969.

The GTX:

A really poor video clip of the bird in idle... it's pretty lame:

Nice car, but it looks like a Chevy or a Ford guy decided to do a little painting in the engine compartment.

I was just thinking the same thing, whats up wit the black engine bay....and then I noticed the cheapo partsstore battery holddown kit.

Well you have to take into consideration, this car is owned by an ''old schooler''.... He doesn't care if it's a cheap brand, as long as it functions, looks organized, and the car runs strong... that's all that matters. We aren't building for showroom quality... we are restoring it, to drive and enjoy. Thanks for the comments guys!!

LoL!! Tell me about it :rolling: The old man had his old friend "Chevy man" rebuild the engine. Although, the engine is painted a horrid blue... it runs like a champ. The motor will be coming out, sometime in the near future for a make-over.... I'll have to sneak in and spray it a different color!!

Don't take my comment the wrong way. It wasn't intended to be a snide remark. I see quite a few engine bays painted black and they just don't look right on a mopar.
While you have the engine out, you might find a paint store to mix up some B5 blue and put it in a spray can for you. Remove as many parts as you can, sand the ara down with 320 grit sandpaper, clean up with lacquer thinner and then wax and grease remover. Tape off the edges of the fender and grille. Then spray a coat of sealer in a spray can. Not primer. Primer has to be sanded. Sherwin-Williams automotive paint stores used to carry the sealer in a can and it was real good stuff. Then spray light even coats of the B5 blue. Let it set for a couple of days and then re-assemble.
Be sure and cover the entire car before spraying.
Then go over to the Dodge dealership and buy a Mopar battery for that poor car. :)
