Help Decoding a 1963 Sport Fury

The Sport Fury is a 1963, 383, 4-speed, convertible. However, it is a dual four-barrel car with the correct intake manifold and carburetor part numbers. However, I do not know how to determine that by the fender tag. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chris

The intake and carbs were likely an over-the-counter deal, or even dealer installed, as this was not a factory option. Mopar Parts offered this setup through the '60's over the counter.

Thanks for the info. I can't seem to find any firm clarification on the fender tag engine ID difference between the 413 Super-Stock (410 or 420 HP) and the 413 360 HP. Google says the "7" indicates the Max Wedge Super-Stock engine...and that the "71" indicates the 360 HP engine...But nothing about the "72" ID on this car. Was wondering how to confirm if the "72" meant it was a 410 or 420HP Super-Stock?? Still confused on how to confirm this is a real 413 Max Wedge Super-Stock 400+HP car. (Consider I am using Google AI to help explain these Muscle Car questions) Seems there should be a way to confirm the tag shows the car is or isn't a factory Super-stock Max Wedge?? Really appreciate the forum help!

@RareWedge Please read my edited thread here. Sorry for the misinformation. The books are a bit hard to follow with very small print. I double checked and found my previous mistake. If my Galen books are correct it looks like your car was originally a Poly 318 car? and the big wedge was added at some time. Probably not what you wanted to hear but something you needed to know. Pulling your fender tag and cleaning the paint may help just in case. You can also take a photo of the back of it and the image can be reversed for a clear read.

#7 on your tag is a 318 2 barrel.
#0 is a dual 4 barrel 413 with 410 HP and 11:1 compression
#6 is a single 4 barrel 413 with 340 HP.
#9 is a dual 4 barrel 413 with 420 HP and 13.5:1 compression.

There was also a little-known 385 h.p. 413, with 2X4 inline carbs available in early 1962. This motor was basically the Chrysler 300H engine. I have a 1962 Car Life test drive of a 1962 Dart with this engine. On Max Wedge cars, the forward horn harness ran down the top of the inner fender panel.

You have to know what plant the '62 was manufactured. Each plant uses different locations on the alphabet line for their codes.
413 Max Wedge Plymouths were built at the Lynch Rd MI plant.

The forth digit in the vin number (1) indicates it was built at the St Louis Mo plant. 413 Max Wedge Plymouths were built at the Lynch Rd MI plant. I don't have any info on the St Louis plant.

3321 VIN = Lynch Road. 3327 = St. Louis.

I think Mike documented it is a 318 car.

We’ve seen no proof that the 413 is a Max Wedge assembly and not a standard 413 all dressed up.

The only other one was a short lived 385 h.p. 413, before the Max Wedges were introduced. It was basically the Chrysler 300 H motor with inline 2 X 4. To my knowledge, the single 4 bbl. 340 h.p. 413 was never available in a B-body. This is not to say that some could not have been transplanted, later in life, as I did with my 1964 Polara. I had an opportunity to buy a rebuilt, but never run 413 originally out of a 1964 New Yorker. So, out came the Poly, and in went the RB.

No single four 413s in any 62 B body, the inline four 413s were Dodge only.
