Sorry for your problems. Good to hear your dad is doing some better. Often if you restore a Mopar you will have more in it than you can get out. You might look at selling as is to someone with deep pockets.

Re:the popping- could be some carbon holding a valve open a tad. Rev it up & dribble a cup of water thru the carb(don’t stall it out).
