Can't remember where this goes, I have it stashed with my door parts and I recall one of the two(pictured) had a broken stud.

Is it for the vent glass/frame? Any one have a pic on how its mounted? Mine has one its studs busted off. Replacement easy to come by or would I be able to get by repairing it? I was thinking of drilling it out and just spot welding a new one if possible.

Knock the broken one out and spot weld a new carriage bolt in. BTW.. they go flat side up, not as shown in the first picture!

Lol seriously your thinking you have the smoking gun of a roached out rusted door part....lol

Come back when you have something tangible to provide.......

        That’s some funny stuff....

Take a better look... There is black plating still visible... Not much but some... And had there been any silver plating you'd still see some evidence of that too...

The only "black" zinc is on the bolt.....No where else on the part has any black zinc....Furthermore, the overall part is the typical one found from years of moisture and rust....Even the one you have shown has the looks of clear zinc...Clesr zinc is not durable and the elements destroy it...You just taking a "snapshot" inside the door is NOT how to research a part correctly.....True OE people know what that entails.....That part has one "key" area to figure the finish out and I will let you think about where that is......

I have probably looked over a 100 of these and had a couple NOS.....I have yet to see one with a different plating......

So you need to "take a better look" at what you have.....

When people do not build their cars correct and then chime in on others that do really tells me the full story......I have seen your build thread........I am not ripping you apart I am just stating the obvious....Overall, your vert is beautiful and will be a sweet ride once completed but don't claim you know the "in's and out's" of the OE world when your build doesn't match......I am not referring to NOS parts, date code correct, sloppy factory processes....I am solely referring to the finishes of the parts you have/had done. So when you're concerned here about a finish of a part than why didn't you do the same for many of the parts on your build?

Never once have I claimed to be doing an OE restoration... I have zero interest in doing an OE restoration... However as you yourself pointed out "The only "black" zinc is on the bolt....." Then you go on to state "That part has one "key" area to figure the finish out and I will let you think about where that is......" Well guess what... When installed on the car the only part that is visible is the bolt.... So IMO your clear zinc being visible is wrong...

Whatever, it's an obscure part that virtually no-one will see once it's installed... Whether clear zinc, black oxide & painted blue it's gonna support the bottom of the vent window just fine....

Lol...the bolts were a separate piece which was attached later to the bracket itself...Hence TWO different finishes.....Your answer proves that you have no clue as to the best area on that part right now to see what the finish was originally.....The bolt or what you see in your picture is NOT the answer...Your going off of a bolt and a rusted finish........If you're not concerned then why do you continue to try to prove something you know nothing about? You just want to prove I am incorrect and my research is solely based off of real research and many parts used/NOS...Along with restoring many OE cars....And your basis is one roached out part and in the end you don't care what finish it was, WTH?.....too funny.....

It may not mean anything to you based on your last statement but to originality guys as myself it does matter, its correctness and preservation of history.......
