I'm in the process of putting together a 1969 hemi. Question is; If I'm running a stock oil pan (5 - 5 ½ Qt. +1 in the filter) will I run out of oil with a high volume pump (if all else is stock)? Pick up is stand ½" tube. No other oil mods taken.

Car will not see extended high G-force, other than the very occasional stop light brawl. No tight corners.

My thoughts as well. I plan to show it more than I drive it... RPMs under 6,000 and honestly, probably will very rarely hit 5,500. I do like to show off, but I keep my spirited driving to a minimum with this car. 7 seconds or less. This car will probably only see 90+ MPH ~2 more times in the next 20 years.

As the past owner of 2 of these engines I can tell you that this is the biggest problem that you can ever have. A panic stop can starve it of oil.I would recomnend a larger pan at the very least.

That's a very bad combination, especially on a hemi. If it's using the stock rockers, it'll really over oil the top end and it can't get to the pan fast enough.

I agree. The valve covers hold a bunch more than the pan. It doesn't return nearly as fast as it oils.

I ran a stock pump with a pan without baffles or windage tray on a 383 and I uncovered the pickup more than once according to the mechanical gauge. Did it both on acceleration and with a hard stop. On both occasions the idiot light also came on and that caught my eye first and then looked at the gauge and saw it coming back up from 0. The stock Hemi pan is bigger than what was on mine but is it enough for quick acceleration to 6k or even 5500? My solution was to add more than one quart so I was running around 6 1/2. No more non baffled pans on anything from then on plus anything that's even mild performance gets a larger pan.
