OK Boys and Girls needing some help??? get your thinking caps on....... what is a value of 1963 HEMI Block worth????:clock:

1964 was the 1st year of 426ci Hemi,
could it "possibly" have a 1963 casting date {maybe?}

Is it just a bare block ?
does it have main caps ?
if it was raced ?
& in what class ?
was it ever windowed ?
& if so, was it properly repaired ?
is it still any good ?
does it have any cracks ?
does it need to be rebuilt ?
what condition is it in ?
has it been sonic checked or magnafluxed for cracks ?
does it have all the parts ?
like rockers, heads, intake, carbs, block, crank, rods etc. ?
what bore size ?

allot of variables

You have a hemi block with a 1963 date?

The first hemi was assmebled in the first week of December of 63. These early engines had some issues, most notably cracking in the right side of the block. They developed a method of heating blocks to 1200 degrees in a furnace and then slowly cooling them the relieve stress, so they wouldnt crack. These blocks didnt come out til February of 64.

I guess it would depend on who had a use for it, i've seen 64/65 blocks sell for 5-10k depending on condition & how complete it is

Not to hijack, but thus thread appears to be dead, and I have a related question about a Hemi block's value:

1966 block w/main caps
Magged; no cracks anywhere
Bored/honed .030 to 4.280
Mains checked, but didn't need a hone
Decked to square but OE spec
Needs washed and can be assembled
Block never hurt /no damage

Any thoughts on the value??
