Hi everyone, Figured this would be the place for getting my 66 coronet basket case up and going. A little backstory, I’ve always been a GM guy, but just couldn’t shake how much I loved classic B bodies. Casually browsing I came across a 66 coronet 440 factory A/C car for a price I’ve never seen a classic mopar for. So naturally I jumped on it and asked questions later. It’s a good car, only 1 actual spot of rust concern on the passenger floorboard, pretty solid everywhere else. details about the car: Oklahoma car it’s whole life. Originally a 318 poly it now as an 87 truck LA360 and short tail shaft 727 roughly bolted in. 8 3/4 rear end, with god knows what rear gear. plans: Really wanted a 4 speed, but I think the conversion would just eat too much of my 7k mechanical (not paint&body) budget. First off is performing mouse delouse and clean then some headers since it has no exhaust system at all, probably a set of Doug’s long tubes and one of the 68 b body exhaust kits from jegs that are cheap. Then ditch the quadrajet and get Holley sniper, maybe hyperspark, but that’s a maybe at best. Figure out a transmission linkage, there’s nothing there so I’m flying blind. Get the seats all reupholstered convert to discs up front and change the pistons for the rear drums. Get a custom slip joint drive shaft to run the short tail trans and redo whatever wiring needs it. Rebuild the suspension and From there it’s hotrodding with whatever money I’ve got left until I have to saving again. thanks for reading and I’ll take whatever advice you’ve got!
