Hey @Dennis H :)
If I recall some of your posts correctly, you're running drums all around and you're using shoes and such from www.musclecarbrakes.com, is that correct?
I'd like to hear what you think of them (say, versus using a set of NOS old style asbestos linings) as well as what master cylinder you're using?
Thanks!
Ed

Yes, manual brakes with the 11” drums. Performance is more than adequate for me. Very subjective though. The shoe material blend along with stronger springs included in the kit work well. Good modulation and stops straight. Running off a high speed exit ramp, i just pop it in nuetral and enjoy the control of pedal pressure. I know, supposed to gear down. They’ve been in at least ten years. I don’t make more than 3 consecutive high speed stops in a row to create the heat/fade issue. Never had it happen. If coming down the 10 mile hill into Salt Lake, (or Ogden - don’t remember)i just drop to fourth or use light steady pressure. All other components are stock as installed by the boys at Lynch Road in May of 1969.

Thanks for replying. :)
Ok, so you are running the stuff from Muscle Car Brakes then?
I had no idea they'd been around so long!
You wouldn't happen to have a pic of your master cylinder or know the bore, would you?

I never had issue in olden days with the drums on these critters either, least that I can remember.
The issue with my current GTX is two fold - not much bite and mushy pedal, despite being a well bled system.
Both will be corrected now.

Don’t have the info right now. Musclecarbrakes was bought out after my purchase. Looks like the same kit. Used to be called brakes-in-a-box, and be significantly lower cost. The cost and heartache I have read about upgrades to discs make me think I’d rather spend the $$$ on efi, aftermarket ac, or overdrive. The next owner will be getting drums on the Coronet.

Well, you'd certainly be a good spokesman for that approach - coast to coast trips speak volumes, after all. :)
That company still uses the "brakes in a box" descriptor for some of their packages.
I've done some research on installs of their stuff and at least by magazine articles, they seem to be the real deal,
with measurable results.
I will soon do an exploratory teardown of my front brakes and see what's what.
What I expect to find is the typical Wagner cardboard looking linings and probably hoses in need of replacement,
no doubt accompanied by original hardware.
We'll take it from there.
THANKS again for your advice.

Im interested in being the next owner should you decide to sell that gorgeous car.

Watch out, theres always sharks in the water around here.

I just took it to mean Dennis never means to sell the car - like, ever.
