holley 4160 rebuild help (has step by step instructions now)

Hello, I got my rebuild kit in for my holley 4160 and was expecting a step by step instruction manual of some kind. um, it shows a detailed photo of every single part of the carb. I have been a mechanic for awhile now but i have never attempted to rebuild a carb. I am intimidated and not afraid to ask for help...so HELP! lol. Im looking for a step by step guide. I went through multiple google results pages and didnt find what im looking for. I found one, but the pictures were very small. Thanks in advance...

X2 on Holley site!

Also youtube has many videos on step by step on rebuilding 4150 - 4160 carbs.

My suggestion for first time is watch some videos, check out Holley's site and dive in. Also, it will add some comfort if you take pics as you tear apart so you can refer to when trying to go back together.. Just a few thoughts, dive right in, you can do it.

You can do it, if you have any mechanical ability it will be easy. Those carbs are very simple. Just take your time, and I recommend since this is your first time lay it out in sections. Front bowl and pieces over here, rear bowl and pieces over there, etc ..... Clean clean clean ! Main body is nothing. I disassemble the whole carb and throw it all in a bucket for cleaning but i have done quite a few ! Don't be scared, when going back together pay attention to the choke and make all adjustments before you put the carb back on a car, set your secondary throttle plate gap .... oh yeah, be sure to set your floats !

Yep, Holley's site has some stuff there! Holley's are actually very easy to take apart and rebuild, you just have to be patient and not throw gaskets together upside down. (I know from experience on the side of a road!!) First carb I rebuilt was a Carter Thermoquad...the Holleys are very easy compared to those imo. Another thing you might try, if you have a Chrysler shop manual from the late 60's and into about 71, they'll have somthing devoted to a Holley in there.

Here is how I laid it out

Thats the smart thing to do if you have not done any or many. Keep things like that and be very organized even as you take it apart. It will help you remember where and how parts went. Always good to be organized in all the work you do. Ron

Thanks to you, I opened the book that I had two feet from my workbench, lol. The amount of detailed information in this book continues to suprise me.
