You should of seen the amount of headturns driving my Runner back from the shop yesterday!

How long does the paint need to cure before I install the stripes?

looking gooooooood !!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang::headbang:

why couldnt the stripes have been done a day or so after it was painted ?

oh by the way i looks great .

hopefully mine will be done in a few years .

When the paint work was done on mine they told me to wait Six weeks before waxing, But they could be all wet. Ask Phoenix and some pro painters. Hell ask the folks who painted yours, and surely some good folks here will chime in also

I was told 3 weeks to a month for paint to cure..

Looks good! It depends on what kind of paint was used. If it's urethane or what?

The waiting period has to do with outgassing coming from the paint, which is simply allowing gasses that form during the paint curing process to be able to escape to the air as the paint cures, which takes 4-6 weeks to complete. Outgassing becomes an issue when you wax and seal the paint, which keeps the gases from escaping, resulting in problems.

Stripes don't seal the paint, and only lay over a small area, so there's no problems with putting them on immediately.

Really? Well maybe I'll be in the garage all day tomorrow!

I'm supposed to be getting my car back on Sunday, and was going to put the stripes on next week when I get some time. Front shocks and hood pin installation are a bigger priority since they're harder to do. :)

that thing came out BEAUTIFUL !!! id let that it bake in the sun for a week before i put the stripes on... but then again,,,im cautious...and **** retentive..... and retarded on occasion.

I would prefer putting on the shocks and hood pins compared to spending a day getting those stripes on right.. That was a pain and a 1/2 just keeping focused on them.. Took me all day lol.

Thanks guys! My guy did a amazing job and loads of attention to detail when I get a chance I'll post pics of the jambs and valances

Without the stripes everyone thinks its a charger haha

I put the center stripe on first, and just hold it in place with small pieces of blue painters tape. Then que the rest of the stripes to the center section, and tape them in place.

Once you get all the stripes positioned where you want them, go back to the center section, and take the tape off one half. Lift the stripe and spray lots of water/soap mix, then peel back about half the cover paper and place the stripe on the car. Use your squeegee to get any bubbles out, then go do the other side. That way either tape or the rest of the stripe is keeping everything in place so there isn't any repositioning to do. Once both sides are down, remove the protective paper and you're done once any bubbles are squeezed out. Now repeat the process on each other section.

It took me about 1.5 hours to do my first set way back when, and about an hour or so since.

I was thinking about waiting till we had a day where it was cloudy and raining all day as that would keep the car surface cool and super wet through the whole process, but then I end up soaked too, so maybe not. :)
