I'm in the middle of doing a power front disc conversion on a 1969 Coronet 500. I'm using Dr Diff's stage 2 kit. I'm at the point where I need to replace distribution block with his. The car is on jack stands and access is very limited. How do I remove the distribution block? It doesn't look possible.

Thanks for any help provided.

One bolt holds it to the frame rail..

Thanks dadsbee.... it's getting to that bolt and lines that is the problem. With engine, headers and steering column in the way it looks like a PITA to loosen lines and remove.

See that big hole where the flap for front end adjustment is try go in from the out side. Remove tire, the bolt is to the rear of distribution block, enlarge dadsbee's handiy picture.

I went looking for that hole...the shield was covered with rubberized under coating and I missed it.
Should I remove the lines first or does removing the distribution block from frame make access to lines easier?

Might loosen them, then try by hand. When you put them on whatever block you use don't bolt down block! Get the lines started by hand 2 turns before you wrench them. I speak from experience a bad one.

I will be running the stock 11" drums on the rear. Did you use the stock block with front disc and rear drums? Did you have any issues?
Thanks
I am running 4 wheel discs on my Coronet. I just checked my car and saw I am using the stock brake distribution block. So, I misspoke before. I installed Cass' front disc kit on my 70 Cuda and kept the drums but had to use the combination distribution block with the proportioning valve.

If I were you, I'd call Cass and get the absolute facts. Brakes are too important to trust to amateur opinions, like mine.

All of this is kind of why I’m dreading the upgrade on my car, these uncertainties along with some things are difficult to reach and I have a bad back. What a hobby!

Removing that shield... don't think it will help.
Cass says:
If you run front disc/rear drum brakes, you should install the proportioning valve. A distribution block will cause premature rear wheel lock up during a panic stop.

Looks like I have to find a way.

You can put an adjustable regulator further towards the back along the frame rail as an alternative.
Or if you can get the three wheel cylinder lines off and the mounting bolt just lift it out with the master cylinder lines still connected.
Probably really easy on a lift.

Unbolt what?

It's starting to look like I will have to leave it alone. If I can get it drivable maybe get it to a lift.
Probably have to hold off converting power booster so I won't have to change mc lines.
Starting to wish i never started this project.

Thanks

Don... that may be possible but I still need to change the m/c lines.
