How to remove firewall connector bulkhead?

Is the seat out? Just go under the dash and unhook what you can. The big harness is pretty intertwined to the frame. The video guys experience involved the whole everything already being blown apart , from what I saw. Keep this updated

When I had the instrument panel out on this car....

I extended the wires that feed into the gauges.

With the bulkhead pulled in, check the thick black wire and the thick red wire for heat damage. I found my black wire with melted insulation touching another wire about 4" into the harness. The connectors to these hot wires get old and loose/corroded and create high resistance.

Mine looked good when I cleaned the firewall bulkhead connectors earlier this summer.

That said, to prevent future issues, I'll be jumpering the 2 ammeter posts before reinstalling the instrument panel.
