Like I mentioned in the welcome wagon, my wife and I pick up our son's 73 Satellite for his Birthday, and here's how it happened.

We had dropped my son off at his friends house and went on down the road to go grocery shopping. On our way there, I passed this car sitting in an abandoned gas station parking lot and saw that for sale sign in the window. I turned around and went back to investigate. After looking over the car and looking at the asking price, I took down the phone number, got back in the car and told my wife, they're asking too much. It's a good car but just too much money. I told her I would call the number and see if there was any wiggle room with the price. I never called. After driving by the car for two months it disappeared from the side of the road. Told my wife, just wasn't meant to be, we will look elsewhere. Another month or so went by and we were on our way to pick my son up from his work. While on our way to his work I passed one of my co-workers house and what do I see sitting in his driveway, yes the car I looked at 3 months ago. I called him that second to see how much he paid for the car, his reply was, I didn't buy it I am just holding on to it, I said it's still for sale, yes. I asked him if he thinks the owner will go down with the price, his reply was, call him and ask. I gave in and said ok what's his name and give me the number, I don't know where I put it. He told me it's John _______ car, I said John the John we both work with? Yup. I hung up the phone called John, made the deal at a good price, picked up our son from work went back to my friends house, picked up the car and we drove it home.

I found my current 68 RR on Craigslist Sacramento
when I was living in Rancho Murieta, Dec. 2005
I was actually looking for something else, for my old 68 RR...
Ran across it by accident, fate maybe...

Seller was asking $7,000, but I paid $6,000
it was all there, all the little stuff, complete & running car,
albeit pretty rough, rode hard & put away wet, but only 63K miles
needed a bunch of body repairs, but very little rust, a few extra OE parts,
Car was from Calif. lived it's whole life in Rio Linda,
than last year in West Sac., second owner, now she's mine...

I bought my 65 Coronet from a great shop in Canada, had it inspected and wired the money which my banker warned me not to do but I did anyway. Lo and behold my money order disappeared and for 3 days I went threw hell:wtf:. Finally the guy at the shop checked with his bank and the wired money was deposited in his Canadian account and not his U.S. account, he apologized 10 times over for not checking it out more carefully but he thought I was trying to scam him as I did most dealing threw emails (don't like talking on the damn phone). Lesson learned call in person.

Found mine on Detroit Craigs List, well actually by buddy did. Flew out to look at it and was pleasantly surprised. It was a survivor with fresh paint and no rust from Colo. that just needed some TLC. Bought it on the spot and drove it 375 miles home.

It started on EBay then one day the add was removed. I sent an Email to the owner and found out it was still titled in her dead husbands name. I set up a date to go look at it in person, threw her an offer and she took it. I had to get a bonded title. Purchased in Shamrock Texas. It sat in a field for 10 yrs. I've been working on for 3 yrs now and getting close to the. First test run.

Found my car in neighboring county went and looked at and after learning the history of the car and hearing it run I decided to buy it. Owner had just added a 70 Superbird to his fleet of mopars and had to sell it.

Best muscle car I've owned I bought in 1992 .. went with a friend about 80 miles to see a car that was described as a original, well built driver when we got there I could see the bondo in the quarters from 20 feet away ,wasted trip ...we stopped for lunch in that small town and there was a penny saver type paper on the table. I looked it over as we sat waiting for our order and there it was under autos. The area code wasn't familiar so I asked the waitress if she knew where it was , she said that's a Bradford PA. area code. It was only about 20 more miles so we went. Told my buddy to get off at the second exit in town to be closer to the center, and there it was at that exit in front of a old shop that had been closed for a long time just hanging out in the parking lot with a for sale sign on it. Called the guy and bought it on the spot ( sorry 72' Chevelle ) this car NEVER gave me a problem... ever... (why its the best)13 years and 20,000 miles later I sold it for twice what I had in it.

Mines a CL find too... Had been watching it for about 6 mos, he was asking $5k for it and it looked pretty good from the pics but not worth that.... He dropped the price to $3500 and I decide to contact him for a looksie... When I saw it it was pretty straight, package tray and pillars looked showroom new only rust was in the rear wheelwell. Complete interior all the brightwork & no drivetrain. Got him down to $3k, threw in fresh 906 heads w/ crane adj rockers, fresh machined 70 440 block w/ forged crank, 4 new tires,
Seemed like a good deal considering the prices of a decent Mopar in the area at that time...

I found my 65 in an ad in Mopar Collectors Guide. It was a couple of counties north of here, completely disassembled, but just about everything was there. The guy had started to build a nostalgia SS car but lost interest. Rust free Texas car!

Wife and I were out for our ritual Sunday afternoon cruise the adjoining suburbia ride and less than 2 miles from home saw the car for sale next to the road. I had always had GM classic cars but the wife's family background was all Mopar (her dad negotiated benefits contracts with the unions, etc).

I said, "Hey, that's a Mopar! Wanna take a look at it?" After a moment or two of internal deliberation, she said "yes". So we checked it out and ended up buying it.

White 67 Dodge Charger, 383 4bbl,automatic. body work and paint done, not yet running non-original engine rebuilt by local racing engine shop, interior "loosely" re-installed, 2 pick-up truck beds worth of extra parts.
Ended up with the whole shooting match for $5K and the seller trailered it and a load of parts to our house.

...and yup, still trying to find time to finish the re-build. seller mixed a lot of 66 parts in the redo not knowing any better. I've had to learn a lot to sort it out and still selling off extra parts.

I got mine on ebag out of Virginia...my last one a 73 'Cuda 340 4spd off craigslist, rotisserie restored for under 20k...made a nice profit on that one.

For sale sign, parked at a Sunoco Station on route 191@22 Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. 1988.
A rat, but all there. Chain on engine, not much exhaust. Had an assignment at the Palmer Township Division and was driving home west on 22 when I spotted an orange car with a white butt stripe. I remember my employers car that I was driving that day too. An 82 Ford LTD wagon. The slowest pos on the planet. Previously had /6 Volare wagons. Went for a test drive that weekend and bought it for $3,450. Guy named Reppert from Danielsville who would not tell me a thing about the previous owner except that the previous was owner 2 for many years. Pretty sure he flipped it to me.

I was at a swap meet ask if he had quarter panel for a 63 Plymouth said no but he had a hole car looked at the car and bought it the one I had became a parts car

#1 1965 Barracuda Formula S on the side of a country road with a "For Sale" sign on it. Not running 318, found out after disassembly one piston had a hole burned through it (i was on my way to a State Prison to visit a relative). The 318 still had the original 273 Carter AFB, 273 factory chrome air cleaner, 273 factory intake (1966), factory 273 commando valve covers, and it had a 8 3/4 rear end with 489 case. Rebuilt the 318, now waiting for paint.
#2 1965 Signet Convertible: my wife found it on Craigs List, drove it back to California from near Seattle Washington.
It had 273 auto and was the owner's daily driver. Haven't restored it yet, has some rust.
#3 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus 318 auto, found on Fresno, CA Craigs list, it was all taken apart in pieces in the owner's garage, originally first sold in Fresno, California. Hauled it on trailer to my brother's house, put it back together, changed all the engine gaskets, and drove it to Baja California Sur, Mexico for Restoration. Almost done, going to swap motors and add Superbird mods.
I still own all 3 vehicles which are in various states of restoration.

A completely random collector car (owner seller site) Not one I had ever seen before nor can I remember it. It came up from a Google search for "69 Plymouth Satellite for sale" I emailed the seller, and about two weeks later got a call in the evening. Car was a one-family Phoenix AZ car - no rain, ever. Completely bone dry and rust free. I offered what he was asking based on the photos, I was willing to buy it without seeing it in person, but he insisted I fly to Phoenix to look at it first.

I took a day off from work and made the trip -- very nice gentleman, I bought the car for what he was asking - I think it was $7,500 and change. I was bringing a cashier's check so to ensure it was legit, he wanted me to meet up with his brother at my bank. Not a problem, I understood his concerns.

It turned out his brother was a mortgage broker who knew one or two of my co-workers from when they bought houses and they remembered him....small world indeed. Very happy with my '69 Sport Satellite.

This is a photo from the pre-sale inspection trip to Phoenix

Ebay. Didn't make reserve. I was top bidder. Made contact with the seller and met him halfway on his price. Had it shipped from Texas.

My brother sent me a text about a 65 Coronet that his old neighbor had picked up. Told me it had a 440, bucket seats, a they thought a suregrip. They were going to get it running and flip it. When he told me the price, I got right over there to take a good look at it. Bought it right away. Had to sell the basket case 66 sport fury to have room in the garage, but I got it all worked out. Working on front disc conversion and rebuilding the rear end.

I did not have to look far as my dad had some good taste back in 1970 when he bought the 68 Superbee. So basically the car has been in the family longer than I have!!!!!

Bought my 68 GTX from an ad in the local news paper. Went to look at it - beat the **** out of it on a test drive. It went like a bat out of hell. Bout it that night with 10 crisp $100 bills. That was November 1971.
