Hub Centric vs Lug Centric

Currently my car has Hub centric wheels mounted to Strange Axles (lug nuts fit "through" wheel) . I want to change the look to a more classic look and ordered some new rims. These are lug centric (lug nuts are conical). Is there an issue mounting lug centric wheels to these axles? The wheel sits evenly on the hub and is not off center at all with no lug nuts to hold it in place.
 
I prefer to have my wheels supported by the hub and not just by the lug nuts. The factory did it that way, if you look at any heavy duty wheel application, that’s how it’s done. You can buy concentric rings, not that expensive.
 
:thumbsup: Hubs are always centered. Bolt patterns not so much. Lug centered is ancient technology and can induce high speed vibrations.
 
The precision of machining even way back, is pretty impressive. Millions of lug centric wheels have been made and work fine. Hub centric is better, lug centric is fine too especially with conical nuts.
 
Engineers will demand hubcentric designs and I can understand why but....
There are several instances where engineers seem to obsess over issues that rarely ever happen in the real world.
The wheels on "Ginger" are lug centric and I've been to 130 or so with no bad habits. I had a '78 Trail Duster with original 8 spoke wheels and they were lug centric.

Centered should be centered regardless of how it's achieved.

Aftermarket wheels are almost all centered by the lugs because of the difference in auto manufacturer hub dimensions.
