I am looking to buy a Mopar 440 crankshaft support, main cap, center, number 3. If anyone has one and doesn't need it, I'd be happy to buy it.

I'm guessing that you know that you can't just bolt on a different #3 main cap? If you had a dozen or 2 to choose from maybe you could find a close match and then have someone line hone it. Normally you would have to buy a new cap and have it line bored and have the block line honed.

The engine will be rebuilt, but someone lost a center support, so I'd like to buy one for a reasonable price and then check the alignment. If it's bad, I'll buy new ones. What do the prominent numbers on the supports mean? Mine is number 17, but I've seen different numbers on others?

I don't know what those numbers mean. Unless this is a matching numbers block it would be easier/faster/cheaper in the long run to find another block. Given a few years of asking your friends and everyone you bump into if they have a junk RB could you borrow their #3 you might eventually find a compatible donor. Then you could sell that block and recoup your money. It can be done. But it's not easy.

Yup.

The block with the missing cap could possibly be a candidate for a build where the block was going to be upgraded with aftermarket caps anyway.
