Went to put my dog out in the back yard and this thing tried to get in my house. It was on the bottom door ledge of my double doors

how's it go? ............ Red on yellow , you're a dead fellow.
Red on black, you're alright Jack.

In Houston, it is red and yella kill a fellah.
An old story, USAF 1973, Panama. While riding my 1972 750 Honda through the forest highway to Rodman, NAS, I saw a long branch across the road.(I thought) Approx 14 feet across a black top. I stood up and rode the pegs. I got close, not a branch. A thick dark snake. I went over it, and the head came out of the grass on the side of the road. I saw it in my rear view. The tail coiled up. It wanted to chase me. I estimate it was around 14 feet plus long. I kept moving, I was going around 20 mph, as the steady rains had the road slick. I always hated snakes. Anaconda or whatever, it wasn't happy. It makes a rattler seem miniscule.

Panama.. I was stationed at Howard AFB for four years. Rodman still had bullet holes in the buildings from 89

Yeah you guys got it
red touch's yellow kill a fellow.
Red touch's black friend of Jack (I don't know who Jack is )
I don't care what color it is there all going to die (rather not chance it with my dogs)
snakes and spiders they all die.

That sure is a pretty little snake........... now kill it before it gets bigger!

I think that snake is a Coral snake. I believe they are poisonous ???

I've posted a couple I met up with around my house . . .

I've run into a couple of them at my house too . . .

First - black snake ( guess 4-5' long )

And a King snake ( guess 4-5' long )

Granted I don't like care for them either . . . but both of these eat rodents and chase away copperheads

They can stay ! The good they provide far outweighs the bad . . . I just have to suck it up !

there advantages to living in the land of ice and snow,...lol. ironically just 25 miles south of me there are venomous snakes.

I have actually stopped and picked up King snakes to relocate them to my house. They are "good" snakes, if there is such a thing.
My son and I were on the way home from a fishing excursion and a big black snake was in the middle of the road.
I stopped and threw it in the bed of the pick truck to take it home for my yard.
So we are riding along and the thing crawls out of the bed and into the cab by way of the diver's widow over my shoulder. Then it started going through a hole in the firewall into the engine compartment
There I am, stopped by the side of the road with my arms between the brake and clutch peddles pulling on it. .

I have never seen a rattle snake in north Georgia. But there may be some.
I saw the first copperhead in many years in my front yard recently. Poor thing.
I think it was attracted by chipmunks. I had a copperhead strike at my tire one time when I slowed down for it at night.
I thought it was a stick in the road and wanted to see for sure.

I was stationed at howard AFB 1972-74 as well. Torrijos wanted to shoot at us, but he didn't have the nerve. I was assigned to the 24th CAMS with the UH-1N unit. They were gunships, and we flew over the La Guardia all the time. It sure beat Minot AFB, that is for sure! But the snakes, yuk.

To hell he won't they still bite . He won't kill you you ment to say . I had radilers out here by my old house and he ruined it for all his snake friend s he attacked my boot ,so my boot attacked back (I won) since then I just kill them all better to be safe then sorry .

I have lived in my current house now for about 35 years. It was one of the first houses in the neighborhood. Surrounded by trees and natural things. Now, except for the two lots on either side of me, I'm surrounded by transplants from up north, that hate trees and want to kill everything. Over the many years that I have lived here I have caught and either relocated or gave several Coral snakes to someone I know that milks them for their venom. I have only caught one Scarlett King snake and it wouldn't even open its mouth, much less bite me. I have been bitten by many non-venomous snakes growing up in Florida and I'm still around. I have been hurt more working on my car than by any snake and I'm not mad at it.
Sorry for the rant, but it just bugs me that people want to destroy things just because they don't understand them. My extra lot is the way it was years ago and its staying that way no matter what my neighbor from New York City wants.
Funny thing is, one of my N.J. neighbors down the street that kills everything came to me last year and says " I think I have a Rattlesnake in my yard" (or radiler), sure enough it was a 44" one that yeah we killed. First rattler I had seen around here in all those years.

I am with you, We have just Bull snakes and Garters around here. In Panama they had among others, the Fer-de-lance. It is a poisonous snake as deadly when a baby as an adult. At least in 72' we were told if bit, put your head between your legs, and kiss your *** goodbye. There was no anti venom for them. But my buddy would still pick them up and use them as bait for deep sea fishing. He was crazy! I do draw the line when I saw a half swallowed sailor by a Boa in a ditch. The guy apparently passed out drunk, and fell. The Military used the pictures to train us what not to do. I guess that is why the Army jungle training center was there then. Now lizards, I saw one standing three feet tallone time chasing a big black snake,(7-8 feet) and the lizard won.
