Omg, I have heard stories but it finally happened to me.
I pulled into a gas station to fuel up the GTX after work. Silver F150 pulls in behind me, he gets out walks right up and asks if he can walk around and look at the car as he has a 1969 Superbee, original B5 blue. Sure thing.
Well he starts going on about him buying the car a few years ago for $12k from a guy at a local car show because the guy lost a bunch of money at the casino. All original, use to have a hemi but he liked the 440 better.....bored over and possibly stroked....and the one in his car put down over 600hp to the wheels.....um huh.......he also mentions that he is running the factory carburetor lol. No rust original interior.
He goes on about how he races out in the counties and no one has touched him. His car can pull the front wheels off the line lmao. He has been looking into putting a supercharger on it but doesn't want to cut the hood. And he is always breaking the motor mounts.
I pop my hood out of courtesy and he comments that his motor was a super tight fit.....show him mine is also a 440 and fits rather well with headers...he asks again what year mine is....tell him same as his, 1969. I ask if he is local and says he is. I haven't seen his car anywhere and I would notice as there are only 3 b bodies that I have ever seen. And he says he daily drives it. Says he cannot idle it or it gets hot, it runs best at 160 degrees f.
I'm finished fueling, trying to go and tell him I'll see him at the local show this year (MATO) and he says his car won't be there because he doesn't like people picking it apart. And before he leaves he compliments me on the cleanliness of the motor and says his looks bad because the state of CA has to be able to see the engine numbers (he already said he was local AZ) and then mentioned that he blew out the spider gears in his 727 transmission and put a hole in the case and he drove it home like that. Can't get the car to pass CA inspection because of the hole.
I'll be looking for him now
