I Still use a Pencil sharpener in the Garage

The old school hand crank sharpeners work way better and can accommodate different sizes

I have one in the shop. I’m the government painter.
My summers are spent painting schools. When a sharpener breaks it gets tossed in the trash. I take them, and mix and match parts to make them work. Also, when the janitors clean out the lockers they toss the contents. Literally thousands of pens and pencils, every year. I take the best ones home but we can only use so many. Binders, designer clothing, the expensive stuff that goes in the bin is heartbreaking.
No I can’t donate it to charity. My employer would be quick to point out that I’m not getting paid real money to sort recyclables.

I have one mounted on the side of the bench in my workshop, right next to the lathe. It was actually built right there in town, many, many years ago, when the local mills and factories were still in operation. They're all condo's and apartment buildings these days of course.
It's seen here with a pencil sticking out of it. Love that sharpener!

got a old school multi sized shank dial crank pencil sharpener hanging on the back of my office door in my shop . of course it doesn't keep it from writing mistakes . but it just a tool , and its operator error . DSC01470.JPG

Got one too. Also have several of the tiny hand held single blade sharpener. I use pencils allot.

had one a while back...... now I wonder what happened to it..... ****

I’m a cabinet maker so I have one in both shops. I can’t believe how bad new pencils are today. Wife was a teacher and would bring home hundreds each year, the ps will eat them like candy. I still have about 3 gross of #3 dad bought 40 years ago and they make nice sharp points in a couple turns, been using that one since 1965 and it was a used one then.

I have three in the basement and one in the shop. I hate a dull pencil. I have some pencils (that I do not like) that seem to have a plastic/fiber/rubberized (somewhat flexible) hull, not like the old wood hull ones. Nothing beats a stiff/hard pencil. Remember when people called them ''Lead pencils''. I wonder how many pencils I chewed on as a kid? At my Estate sale they will have ''New In Box'' pencils DSC01981.JPG DSC01982.JPG DSC01984.JPG DSC01985.JPG
