Good Morning Everyone!

I had a quick question that I was hoping someone could help me with. I have a 1962 Dodge Dart that I pulled out of a barn. I was not told anything about the running gear. The previous owner had put a new coat of paint on it and parked it without putting it back together fully.

My question is if someone could help me identify the rear end. I believe it is a 741 rear end, but my understanding is that those were not produced til 64 or 65. If that is true, then there may have been a lot more done to the car other than paint...

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have attached a picture of the numbers shortly after it was sandblasted. The numbers may be hard to read they are 2070741. The slant six in the car has the numbers

What is under the 741, I think that may lead to the date you are looking for.

Also, the "X" denotes 741. If it had a "9" or "2", it would be a 489 or 742 respectively.

Thank you so much everyone! After looking at it and looking at the resources provided, my conclusion (which may be way wrong) is that the rear end was replaced sometime in the mid-60's. The slant-six looks to be the right year, so maybe the original rear end went out and was replaced by itself. Doesnt really look like all of the running gear was switch.
