Identify this clip - '70 Charger auto console

I found this laying on the ground under the car yesterday. I believe it's to secure one of the shift linkage parts. I'm guessing the vertical rod to the left of the shifter assembly that goes through the floor to the transmission? I'd already used cotter pins to secure the linkages.

It sure does look like a linkage clip. By design, it keeps pressure on the linkage rod so it doesn't flop loosely.

Thanks, that seems logical...that vertical rod has a washer and a spring washer at the top beneath where I installed a cotter pin, but I'd rather replace it with the correct clip.

That clip will help prevent the linkage from rattling
