How do I remove the idler arm from the k-member? I have tried an idler and pitman arm remover but both are too big to get into the confined area. Short of beating the stud end with a hammer, what other ideas will work?

A sharp blow with a 4 lb. hammer on the center link boss. Or this.

If it's not a pile of rust, you can hammer and dolly work the joints around the studs and often times it'll loosen it enough that you can take a center punch to the bottom of the stud (after removing the nut) and drive it out. I've have great results doing it that way. If it's built up with grease and grime, remove that before working it.
