My dog Irving brings the ball to the side of the pool. Then he walks to the middle of the shallow end on his hind legs and waits for me to throw the ball to him.

It’s amazing how dogs are like cars. I love Labs but I love all the other models too! Generally if I go some where that has a dog I will try to make friends with the dog first

Dogs are great, couldn’t imagine life without them. I grew up with Labs and Spaniels.

Currently we have 3 pugs. They are fantastic companions and rarely cause trouble. They are simple minded.

I will tell you when you go from 2 dogs, to 3, a major change in behavior happens. There will be an alpha, and they will be a pack with pack behaviors. As life happens, we will go down to 2 dogs, but that’s years off.

Here’s our grumble (grumble = pack of pugs) waiting for a snack:

Awesome fun.

When I was a 20 something, a good friend had a wonderful yellow lab. She loved tennis balls and water, and on lazy Saturday afternoons, we sit on the back patio and throw tennis balls in the pool and swill beer. The dog had a 2 tennis ball limit in her mouth, and she would swim around in the pool and pick up 2 balls and bring them back. When you threw a 3rd ball in the pool, she would swim to ball #3, but the minute she tried to get the #3, ball #2 would pop out of her mouth. This would continue endlessly as she would swim to the loose ball, try to pick it off the surface, only to have a ball pop out of her mouth.

This was great fun, and after about 5 minutes of her swimming, we’d go pick up number 3 and she’d come out of the water with 2 balls. We let her take a break and then start the whole thing over again. Goes without saying, but she was an excellent swimmer.

If My Dog Could Talk

If you ever had a Husky, they can talk. They're very vocal.

The last dog that I had, Avi short for Avalanche

I miss my pug...

I had Kelsey from 12 weeks, until she was nearly 19. Lost her last May, and I still hear her snoring sometimes. Such a sweetie. I still miss her like crazy.

Kelsey LOVED the ball. She also loved to swim - both VERY odd for a purebred pug. Middle is Morgan, my one-eyed Border Collie rescue, and in the back is Hudson, my husky-mix rescue. He was a pup in this pic, he's about 8 now.

...he loved Kelsey, too...

I'm not responsible for grown men crying when you read this.

Just sayin'.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone
here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and
hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play
together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our
friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health
and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days
and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except
for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to
them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one
suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are
intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from
the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him
faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend
finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be
parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands
again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the
trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
