If you had a zillion dollars where would you choose to live?

Where is the US and where in the world?

Some might choose a penthouse in NYC but I would rather be on top of a lonely mountain in Colorado.

In the world, maybe in New Zealand where they filmed the Lord of the Rings stuff.

As I enter retirement I think about this stuff.
Hawaii...

In the UP on Cheney Lake about 12 miles south of Wakefield MI Built my first house there when I was just 16, but then sold it before it was completed. I would buy it back, then buy all the other cottages on the lake. Tear them all down and build a few new ones for friends and relatives to stay. Nice and quiet up there, like taking a step back in time.

about 25-30 miles up the hill
maybe here, it's God's country...

If I had that much $$$,
I'd build my own private dragstrip
my own private roadcourse
my own private airport, airplanes & hangers,
a fuel depot, for race gas, reg. gas & diesel,
for all the snow removal equipment
my own ski lodge, lift/runs, it gets 25'+ of snow some winters
the biggest fucken' well-equipped heated & A/C garage you'd ever seen
a nice modest self-designed house, copper roofs/gutters
maybe 3,000sgft living space, not too big, but big enough
a little guest cottage/s for my dad &/or guests or my family
wide-open rooms, vaulted ceilings, oak & granite everywhere
stone fireplaces
ledge stone or river rock walls/construction outside,
maybe logs too (I'd have to think about that)
huge heated pool with a waterfall & tons of real rock features

I wouldn't need to go anywhere, I have it brought/flown in
I could afford anything I needed &/or the taxes involved

too bad I couldn't get it without the snow
if it looked like this year-round, I'd be in heaven on earth

Sonora Ansel Adams Wilderness -Island Pass- Sierra Nevada.jpg

Isolated in the Mountains in a small cabin/large shop. Lake front preferably. Then I would donate what’s left of my zillion.

Right where I am but I'd buy hundreds of acres all around me for a buffer, nothing beats home!

I like this idea. I'm not familiar with Cheney Lake but my dream house would also be around a peaceful lake - probably in the foothills of the Rockies somewhere. It would be a rustic log cabin, but highly modern and comfortable. Then I'd have a monster heated garage for the cars. Most of the garage would be subterranean, so little of it would show.

As far as what other country: It would probably have to be New Zealand. I have never been there, but it looks to be one of the most beautiful countries around!

In the winter time: swaping between southern california and Floridas Gulf coast.
In the summertime I would be home where I am with an occasional visit for Carlisle in july

Either...
Were I live now (beach front...West Sussex South Coast UK)...but with a bigger house with a bigger shop so I don't have to rent one two miles away for.my projects....or...
On a rocky cliff top in a village down on Cornwalls North Coast....Rocky and rugged like Scotland....but a much nicer climate.....I go there one or twice every year and it's definitely top of the list for retirement locations.....or
A small island off the coast of Scotland....Outer Hebrides or Shetland islands....but only in the Summer....way too bloody cold and windy to live up there in winter.
I was lucky enough to travel the World when I was young....not found anywhere id rather live than the UK...that said the Solomon Islands were nice...all the climate and surf of the Caribbean...without so many tourists and no hurricanes! Hawaii also appeals....but never visited....maybe one day.
My family is from Wales.

Buy the top of a mountain, build the same size house we have ( 1600 sq. ft.). Build a bigger "shed" - ours is 30 x40 10 ft. w/10 ft. ceiling - would make it 40x 42 with 11 ft. near Galeton PA.
could build my own Drag strip.

Breathtaking!

I would probably hit up n.c. or around there somewhere off in no man's land one road in one out . By myself in woods with my cars no a holes around!
Upstate n.y. is another area I'm interested in (I love the cold)
Mountain s would be nice too. Reg size house big *** garage .
If I were to go else where witch I probably wouldn't germany or scotland. Italy is nice but the rules .....

Is buying a whole state out if the ? Remove everyone then let people apply to live in said state? So you can weed out the riff raff and a holes

I've been blessed most of my live and have lived in many homes in woods, on lakes and subdivisions with woods. I think a few thousand acres in the back hills of Missouri would work for me. A home with a few thousand square feet and a big garage for a few cars and my helicopter, no planes, no runways, just drop down in my back yard. I would have fun giving to friends and family more easily and more often. The one thing I would really like to do is make people pay dearly for making others suffer, revenge for those who can't get it on their own, those who have laughed and brought others down. I have done it before, but, more money, bigger fish. Now that's making the world a better place. Sounds stupid I know, but, what good is money if you can't make happy tears for someone who never had a chance. Some things I would like, money can't buy and God can't give me.

Doesn't sound stupid at all. For the first time in my life, it was last week. I had lots of happy tears.
