I have found that images I upload appear to lack quality after they are posted. I checked some images posted by other members and see the same low quality. I only noticed when trying to zoom in a tad.

Used to be I had to reduce the file size prior to uploading.

Does the site automatically reduce the file size for images now? If so, when did this happen? What is the maximum file size now for images?

Your pictures that you post look clear and crisp, it’s gotta be your PC or your phone that you view them on.

Joey couldn't afford the server space if he stored all of our shots at 4gigmeg. They get auto reduced to I imagine 200KB.

Not exactly -- but they do get reduced -- but generally quality is kept pretty high of original. I think this is the first time anyone ever mentioned it.

Pixelation when zooming on an otherwise clear image is the issue. At least while using my Samsung A35.

Try zooming in on the image of the modern Mopars parked along the curb to see my blue Challenger. Then you'll see what I mean.

I'll try zooming on my PC and report back.

I just screenshot the image I uploaded. The file size is extremely small after the upload. 36.3 KB. The original image is 2.1 MB; NOT GB as some jokingly said.

I upload some pretty big Jpegs! When I see someone else post something useful I grab it. I don't
see any problems when I go back and enlarge them?

Using my PC this time instead of my phone I looked at several images other members have posted (car shows, events, etc.) and some more I posted, including close-ups of parts but opening the image and zooming I can barely read a part number. So, it's the website not the device's fault.

Here's another 2 MB image uploaded via PC. Same issue.

Others have noticed but have not mentioned this to you before.

its also not just about server space. Its about how long it takes to download to someone's device. Someone post 10 images at 2gb each it would take forever to display.

Large images are automatically resized (dimensions) when you upload them. Standard practice on most websites. That also makes the filesize smaller which cuts down on bandwidth costs and makes the image open faster in the browser. The original cellphone photo on your phone is 2.31Mb. After uploading it's 32Kb. That is approximatelty 65 times smaller which adds up to a lot when thousands of people view it. It does cause the photo to have less resolution so when you zoom in details are lost.
