Near ready to buy a new set of wheels and tires. On the phone with Summit this morning. Courteous, but not very helpful and in a rush to complete an order and on to the next caller. I get it. Also did a lot of searching on the web. Considering 16” or 17”. I have 15’s on it now, steel 1pc Magnums, 235/60r’s (RWL, Goodrich) with around 6,000 miles on them. No complaints, just want a new look with redlines.

Seeing photos on the site, the aluminum Magnum 500’s look fantastic; but which ones to buy? There’s American, HK, Legendary, and others. Are there significant differences? I see just a bit btw them, though not much. Then there is the quality which is one reason for this post. Any advice would be great. Based on what I know not being much, these are made in China, even the 'American' wheels.

With the tires I have now, there is more room than I thought (having gone from 14’s and a much wider tire, leading me to opt a larger wheel and lower profile tire. The 16” tire would have the same OD if going to a 55 series and the 17’s going with a 50-series (26.1 to 26.3).

Last thing is going from a 4.5 to 4.0 backspace should reduce the too inside the well look. I have over 2” from the inner lip in the rear with what’s on it. I’ve read good things on this site about Diamondback redlines so they are a first choice as it it now.
Again any tips on what I’ve posted would be appreciated!

This era of car, Cragar S/S, Torque Thrusts or Keystone wheels to the top of the list for me.

Yeah, was a fan of those, had Keystones on my Challenger back when. 51-years ago, notice the flared jeans, lol.

If you're thinking era-correct style, those 3 indeed top the list. If you're going redlines, do yourself a BIG favor and source Diamondback. I know a considerable number of people with them, and every one raves about them.

Just be sure about your measurements before hitting the button.

Thanks, I'm settled on the Diamondbacks given the comments like yours. Seeing some photos of those aluminum 500's, I like them, now which brand to buy..

Ron, I'd go 17" before 16" - I think 16" tire availability is as limited as 14".

What's your car look like now with the 15" Magnums? I've thought about the 1 piece Magnums myself and they look great in photos of just the wheel, but when mounted they can look a little flat and don't have the detailing of the originals. However, if you like them that's what counts.

I’ve had RWL tires on my fun cars since I was a teenager. Well, this goes back to when my GTO, Cuda, and Challenger was my daily transportation. Bought the 1pc steel 15” Magnums and BFG radials from Coker replacing the 2pc 14’s I had when restoring the ’63. Like them a lot, no issues, though if you see my Plymouth photo here, thinking redlines could really pop and adding the larger dia aluminum Magnum wheels better. Also thanks for your advice on wheel size. Going from 26.1 to 26.3 OD with 17's w/ 50-series tire should be no problem.

I like RWL out on Rallye's, Road Wheels and most factory wheels for that sort of Polyglas look. However, I prefer black walls out with any aftermarket wheels.

Do Summit (and Jegs) still offer to mount and balance your wheel tire combo for you free before shipping them out to you??? That was a great savings for me a while back.....plus they held all the liability with any potential problems, but there were none.

Honestly, I don't know how you could make that car look better.
