So we took my son and this young lady out to dinner on me of course and they wanted to go to this indian restaurant. The place had a A rating for being clean which makes me feel good but the food? Lets just say i still cant get the taste out of my mouth and i dont mean that in a good way. I guess I'm just old as all i eat is American, southern italian or Chinese

Sonny, I think it's funny that you say you stick with American food, when then first 3 things you listed you eat aren't 'American' at all (egg roll = Chinese, Pasta & Pizza = Italian). Hehe.

Seriously I just came back from a business trip to India. The food was very good there. It was definitely spicy and I got some heartburn from it (could have been all the beer I drank too, not sure), but it's very good. Mostly chicken and some seafood too. Not like some of the Sh#t they have in restaurants here. And they definitely combined foods that I have never seen before, but again all good.

The kids like to eat at tables they have on the sidewalk, real yuppie thing. Now its not like i don't like to eat outside but sitting at a table with trucks, bus's ambulances and all sorts of wiredo's going by next to you just aint my thing. I ordered lemon chicken figuring how bad could that be. So the menu says with rice or pasta, sounds good and i order the pasta. Waiter comes out and is mumbling something about pasta so i say just give me rice. He brings me a bowl with this spicy rice with chicken in it somewhere and i bite and it burnt the roof of my mouth. I told the guy i said lemon chicken,so he brings me lemon chicken and it was'nt that good.112 bucks later and i had to eat when i got home. Never again

Don,t you love it when you go to dinner and you realize at the end of the night you probably would have been better off throwing your money out the window of your car on the way to the resturant.

I no that felling ours wanted to go to one of those samurai diners fell over when I got the bill and I had to go down the road and stop at a Burger King to get some thing to eat to fill up on didn't get my full at the other place

last time I had Indian food I almost had to get a new toilet...to much tikka masala

I love how one trip to a some random Indian restaurant and you are OFF Indian food! LOL

I LOVE Indian food! It's awesome, I make great Indian food myself (among plenty of other types of food) so really appreciate it when I eat at a good place that knows what they are doing in the kitchen.

If you ever try it again, (I am guessing you won't) but if you do, please ask them to make it mild! I am sure they know how to..If someone who does not like HOT (spicy) food get's that for the first time I can see how it would spoil your experience. I love my food hot so I ask for it hotter than they would make it normally. But each to their own.

I like Indian food, but then again I like spicy foods. The places that I've gone to around here are generally inexpensive and have notes in the menu that indicate degrees of hotness.

There's one place in town that specializes in "Indian Style Chinese Food", which is an interesting combo...

I'm calling BS on that; there is no fish flakes or ground mothballs listed.

Petieg383, I end up over in India about twice a year for work and couldn't agree more. There's a lot of vegetarians over there and beef is very hard to come by with most of the population being Hindi, but it's much better than most of what's available stateside. My dumbass even ate street food which was delicious, didn't end up with 'Delhi belly' until I had a burger at the Newark airport on the way home. Those Kingfishers beers aren't too bad, not a ton of flavor but they do the trick!

It's the curry!
I knew a girl who's daughter was dating a guy from India. So she wants to impress him and starts taking cooking lessons from his mom. Then tries it out on us. Well everyone likes it but me. I couldn't even stand the smell of it not alone the taste. Nothing but curry! Sorry can't do it...

Tried it, it sucked. Might even be worse than Vietnamese food.

It must be the way they prepared your dish Steve. If you had a hot Vindaloo, then I can understand your reluctance to go back and try it again.

I took the family out recently for an Indian meal. The waiter came up to us and said "Curry OK?" I said "Alright, just give us one song then f**k off" :laughing8:
