i just purchased a new hood release cable for my 1972 RR and the new cable has a ball on the end and I dont see how it can work on my hood release. It looks like I need a loop on the end instead of the ball.
Some of the online/big shop sellers will place a note in very small print that the cables they sell are the ball type, not the loop type. I got caught in the same trap. Fortunately, my brother-in-law has a shop where they make custom cables, and I got mine fixed there.
You can cut the ball off and make a loop at the end of the cable using a cable ferrule. Cable ferrules can be purchased at most hardware stores such as Ace, Home Depot and Lowe’s. Use a chisel or flat screwdriver and a hammer to swedge.
