I have the panels and the set of clips. The clips require a plug be inserted once installed in the holes in the car to hold the clip in place. There isn't room to slide on the panels with the plug partially installed so I can get the clip in the hole before it expands. Please someone tell me the quick and easy way to install these panels before I damage these expensive clips. The clip set also came with two black pieces with a threaded post with nut, and metal spring attached. Not sure what this is for?

Thanks

If I am remembering correctly, you have to install the clip into the hole, then insert the plug into the clip. This secures the clip to the body like a blind rivet. Once they are installed the moulding snaps over the clips. Install one edge of the moulding over the plastic clips then using the palm of your hand or a soft rubber hammer use a glancing blow to pop the moulding into place.
Post a pic if this still doesn't sound right...

I'll give this a try? Once the clip is installed it seems like such a tight fit against the car. I'll just have to pull out either the tops or bottoms to fit one side on then push on the opposite I guess?

BTW the metal spring clips go on the front fender hole. One for each side.

The moulding should snap onto the installed clip, providing the repro clip was re-manufactured properly... A picture would help.
Good luck, i know it's a little unnerving when you haven't done it before!

The metal clips are larger than the panels. I don't think they are final install pieces? Much props for the KC-135. I was that but propulsion at Mildenhall 2000-2002. Love that airframe. Now I am F-35 test at Edwards AFB. Thanks

As soon as I get home I will try and install the clips then the molding. I'm currently TDY for the military. Thanks for the support! Anything is help.

I think the metal clip will get installed before you snap on the moulding as there is a wire spring that bends in the moulding lip. There should be those metal clips installed though. On my car when I bought it I had the clips still installed but no moulding that's how I knwo the metal clips went in the fender hole. On another note I've been to Mildenhall once in route to Turkey. I miss mushy peas. I've got a couple friends that used to work out of Edwards but I think they are civilian now.
