I am installing an automatic console in my 4 speed coronet. I purchased the standard top plate ,mounting brackets and 4 speed bulge plate for the shifter hump. I have a couple of questions. First,in the bulge side I purchased, theres a one inch hole that doesn't seem to match up with anything so wondering what its used for. Secondly,I repaled my dash harness with a new one from M&H and am wondering where I would plug the console lights into. These lights come on when the door opens.
Thanx.

I'm guessing that hole is for reaching the fastener that attaches the console to the mounting bracket. There's a console for automatics but sounds like you want to keep the 4 speed hump and console and cover it up instead?

There should be a console harness for the lights and reverse switch. Then there's another that connects that to the driver side kick panel area. I believe it's routed from the kick panel area, under the driver seat to the console.

I'm converting the automatic console to be used for a 4 speed. That hole is just open and I have the floor bracket but nothing is there to attach to it

I could be wrong but i think that hole in the bulge plate is to access the bolt that fastens the main part of the console to the front console bracket. The photo below is an auto console but the manual console still attaches to the front bracket in the same area. The hole will be covered up by the 4 speed console carpet kit.

That hole is to reach in and put a screw in the side of the console to pull the 4spd hump away from the gas pedal towards the center of car. There should be a tab that sticks down on the left side of the front consoles mount that is welded to the tunnel. When the carpet is installed over that hump there will be a slot to stick the screwdriver in to install the screw. I had to trim my auto console to fit where the 4spd hump is. Other than that it was a great fit.

Thats where the confusion sets in. I have the front bracket but there is nothing to attached a screw to. There needs to be something on the console that the screw goes through and then into the bracket. Right now I can stick a screw through the big hole but theres only the hole in the bracket for the screw to go jnto.???????

Sounds like your console has been trimmed wrong and there is no plastic there. Look at the photos below. The far right (3rd) bracket has an oblong hole on the driver's side where the screw goes. Now look at the console on the front where the oblong slot is that is where the screw goes but is reached through the hole in the 4 speed side cover. Hope that shows you how it installs.
