Is there supposed to be any seals in the acorn shaped service caps that are on the RV-2 compressor?

Are there supposed to be any seals inside the acorn shaped caps that screw onto the suction and discharge ports?

I personally am not sure what Mopar did, but they should be leak free with no seals, as long as we are talking about metal caps, and everything is in good shape like new.
