Getting ready to do quarters on my 72 charger so I need to place the deck lid on so I get the alignment correct. The problem is I cannot get the decklid to align even to the old quarters. When I purchased the car the trunk had been broken into, the deck lid had been destroyed and the trunk could not close. This is a deck lid from a 73. The decklid sits too high up. If I remove the latch entirely it almost aligns. Looking at the back of the vehicle it angles up to the center where the latch goes. I am thinking that it might be bent and am hoping someone could look at the picture and let me know. First picture is side view with latch in but adjusted all the way down. Second picture shows how the rear of the vehicle angles up.
Thanks for the help you guys have been so helpful whenever I post a question.

That doesn't look bent I'm not familiar with 71-74
but if it were bent up in the center the vertical section
and the bottom brace would be bent too but they look straight in the pic

71-74 lids are the same the 71 has provisions underneath for the go wings and the 73-74 the higher end models have a piece of trim screwed in the back but easley added ,transferred or removed all together. The car looks fine and the lid looks good too . These cars were never perfect from the factory the deck lids on this year charger were some of the worse ever you might get lucky with a different lid that fits better /lower but it's a crap shoot

Are we 100% sure?

That sure looks like the "kick up" on a 73/74 car.

I have a 72 but I got rid of my good 73 deck lid with the car I sold as a roller.
