It's only 51 years old.why is there always one?

And its frozen in the timing cover...and at the threads.

Been doing the heat n beat...PB Blaster...bolt extractor...vice grips...and I only have a mapp torch..my ex wouldn't give up my Oxy-acet torch when I was there last week...:BangHead:
Dude....look at my MN Gold thread. Had the exact same issue....same bolt. I got it out and two more just like it. Patience. Used a a crow-bar....(carefully) to walk the pump off the face of the motor 1/16of an inch to get Sea foam to the thread side of the bolt....the issue is the rust has expanded the bolt so tight that friction is holding it there...once you get a gap in there....just walk it forward and back until you can get it off....then you can get to the bolt....comes out way easier then....not having the water pump housing dry humping you....

Gotta be careful in situations like this, probably need to get a specialist to look at it. Procedures differ greatly if it is Grease Burnt as opposed to Cristalized!

A specialist? Wtf? It's a frozen broken bolt.
Curious what kind of specialist your referring to?
Never heard of a frozen bolt specialist except for Mr. Flamewrench.

And minor update the cover now reluctantly "slides" on the bolt...but the beatings have mushroomed the head to the point where in no longer will fit through the hole....to go back to a previous linked post..I'm gonna use the first date method...the Ron Jeremy is not gonna work

...gonna zip the mushroom off with a whizz wheel after dinner.

A bit of repeated heat and quench with PB gave me a few turns on it...moves best when cherry red...so more heat n 1/2 turn...heat n 1/2 turn to come

You’re on it! Just be patient. Going the shroom down and keep length . Another little trick is when you get it about an inch away from the block is to take a hack saw blade to free the housing and then you can take vise grips to that sucker.

When I get home on my pc I will PM u info I thought I had started a thread on them with different models and makes

It's a tool once u had one u will wish had one a long time ago it won't sit unused

How did you finally defeat the evil timing cover??
I reverted back to the methods learned many many moons ago as a young buck in the rusty Northeast. Plus yall reminded me of a few I forgot. I've been missing all the fun of rust like that living in Arizona for the last 20 years.
Just good old fashioned patience, a mapp torch, a really big pry bar, a B F H, some PB Blaster and a great pair of US made vice grips. That's what did the trick.

Wow....couple degrees I bet

So it looks all original so far...and if the pistons are in the .036- .045 area as I hope...this lol sucker is gonna scream a bit. Should hit 390 HP with a cam, intake, heads, headers, fresh rings, and a few tricks.

Future progress will go back to my main thread in members projects...69 Coronet..the Wanna Bee RT.
