It's REAL - Back to the future HOVERBOARD!

Hmm, cool tech, but it won't be getting me off my skateboard anytime soon...

Cool chit is right

Wait until they fit this to heavy transport. I love the idea that they used a hoverboard to capture interest, and then carry on the research and dev. Great idea.

Magnetism? Looks like everywhere is hovered was over a metal surface.

I believe it is all to do with Induction - so not really magnetism. There were plan to create a railway using the same principal in a large city in Germany a few years ago. It would be more efficient than electric trains, and no noise pollution....as well as being totally safe to walk across the tracks.

The COOL thing about this one is NO tracks..Every iteration previously have been based on the idea of constraining the field within a track of some sort. Much like the bullet train.

Trust me this is the tip of the iceberg. If the motors that drive this effect can be made more powerful, I forsee that the amount of non ferrous conductive material beneath it can begin to be scaled down in concentration. This means roads could be made with copper impregnated into the process of building the road itself.

Then it can work for cars that are surface bound and also hover cars.

The guy wants to move entire buildings out of the way during earthquakes and such disasters. The hoverboard is just to capture our interest. Seriously, if something like this can work and then couple it with a recent announcement that Lockheed Martin has made a breakthrough with portable Fusion reactors:

The two techs combined bode well for transport industries Globally.
