This is amazing stuff.

Anyone who's priced a new '72 taillight lens will appreciate the hundreds of dollars saved here. I cut off a small bit of putty (it's two part stuff), and kneaded it to mix. I then applied it to the lens and fashioned it into the approximate shape being sure to leave it a little oversize so I could sand/file it to size.

A few hours later it had hardened enough to work with and I filed it to fit. The profiling on the edge was the bit that took a while, but the whole thing took about 45 mins. A little sanding with some 1200 grit and I was done. Applied some grey primer to the repair and now she's ready for top coat.

I was unsure whether this repair would take as there isn't a lot of area for the JBWeld to bond to, but it is super strong. I highly recommend this stuff to anyone looking to do a light or grille repair, etc.

Cheers,

Mr G :).

Cool. I've found most any epoxy type product will work for those sort of repairs. Patience and a little skill can save a ton of money.

I was contemplating that with my 73 grille that has a broken off mounting ear.

Good to see you had positive results.

That plastic jb weld does work good, I fixed the cover on my wake deck with it, just to fix it because a new one was $1400 and would take 3 months to get in. SO I figured it was worth a shot, I ended up never replacing it because it is perfect. I ruffed the 2 sides up glued them together, then drilled the 2 ends of the crack and filled the 2 holes with epoxy.... I was going to glue in a piece of aluminum underneath but when I seen how strong it was I didn't bother, it was like that for 2 years before I sold the boat, that thing gets BEAT UP and never broke again (originally broken when it was off the boat, my son ran over it with the gator...)

Next up, anyone got a few good pics of a Road Runner lens?

I'm wondering if they were semi gloss or matt black? Leaning towards painting mine a dark argent, but I'd like to see how they look in black.

Thanks.
