Just purchased some Jegs Metallic Ceramic Coated 1 7/8" headers with 3" collectors, or Patriot headers to let my solid cammed' Mopar breath :headbang: Has anyone ever used these? They looked like a killer deal at only $319 per/ set from Jegs and look great out of the box. Looks like the driver side header has perfect clearance for spark plugs, regardless of angle. The passenger side however, looks like #1 tube must be bent in a little bit to clear the first two plugs.. I am running Edelbrock heads, so it seems that 'everything' is a gamble unless you want to spend $750 on a set of headers; which is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone ever purchased these headers? How long does the typical ceramic coating last on a daily driven street car?

One day of work, one header installed.. Had to pull the torsion bar, jack the car up quite a bit, and hoist up the engine by unbolting the solid mounts. Going to need to ding in one tube for spark plug/plug wire clearance. Going to also have to pick up some boot protectors. This was on the passenger side, which was the worst side. Very tight fit overall with the larger tube, but better clearance in the engine bay due to the tube configuration. Going to pull the torsion bar out the other side, and install the next one tomorrow. Starter and dipstick are out now. Crossing fingers it goes in better than the one today. No scratches on coating, luckily!

Update, both headers are installed... Both torsion bars needed to be taken out, steering, Z-bar assembly for manual, and motor mounts obviously needed to be undone from the chassis. Used an engine hoist and had the car up a foot in the air. fit is great, plenty of room in the engine bay and isn't close to the steering box. Only one header needs to be dented in for spark plug clearance with angled plugs, and that is #3 back on the passenger side. fourth spark plug on passenger side needed to be tightened, prior to installing header since you cannot fit a socket on it. We grounded off a wrench and was able to tighten with the header on. Driver side header has great clearance, and all plugs are angled away from the tubes (better position than straight plugs). These headers so far in my opinion, WORK with angled plugs. They have no unnecessary bending in the tubes.
For $319, they are a good investment if you are looking for ceramic coated headers with a 1 7/8th tube diameter; without the BIG price tag.

How are you liking them? I think I'm going to try them as well.

Why, I'm installing a set of H8206-1's myself, on Tuesday!

I had planned on purchasing some Patriots this year. Thanks for the post. I guess the Auto Trans shift linkage has to be modified slightly on a column shift RR. 1969. Has anyone done this? Thanks

So if I read this right, the only spot you had to dent is the second tube on the passenger's side on the front part of the tube next to the plug? That's not to bad at all. I'd call that a good fit.
