all of you guys that have had a knee replacement what type have you have installed ,going to have both knees replaced

I haven't but a neighbor had both done a long time ago. The physical terror sucked and hurt like a mofo, but said it's the best thing he ever did. Played golf everyday afterwards. Enjoy the drugs and the terror afterwards, Good Luck!

I was about 40 (54 now) when I had mine done....sort-of. I went from being able to hike/backpacking to using a walker, then a wheelchair within a year. Doctor (Stanford) said I needed TKR, but due to my immune system he wanted to do one at a time. Worked great for about a month, but had too many infections (body didn't like the implants I guess) and they removed the hardware and fused both legs. Don't remember what type though.

Everything is fine now, though I do kind of walk like a Penguin...lol. Only thing I can't do is ride a bike and drive a 4-speed. Thankfully my "fun cars" are both automatics.

I've been using kneepads at work for eons trying to stave off any issues. Now my hip are sore all the time, trying to go slow and let heal but you know you can only go so slow. If you should need anything that I can help with im only 15 minutes away from you. Take good care. CCF? or other?

Had left total knee replacement surgery five years ago. Your doctor will know what level of surgery you will need. Some get partial and some get some kind of caps. Mine was just to shot to save.

The key to success from my experience is usually the rehab afterward. Of course there will be the occasional surgical issue but most of the time the physical therapist will either know what they are doing or NOT. Unfortunately the latter was my case. I got to an acceptable rotation level and then the therapist pushed too hard one day. Coincidentally, the company then said I had progressed as far as I could and released (dumped) me. Make sure you get hooked up with reputable company!

both of mine are gone and need total replacement of both and still need my left shoulder total rebuild , this new doctor showed me a Persona not sure if its good or not so good will post some photos, now in my seventies and want to get back to work have been on medical leave and that sucks

Have had both knees totally replaced, 2006 and second in 2011. If I saw the name might jog my memory. DO THE PRE-OPERATION exercises, mine were to do leg raises with some ankle weights 5 lbs. Was able to do 100 of them after 2 weeks. Also have a couple of pints of your own blood before operation. If your a drinker quit 2 weeks before your don't want problems from that. Tried to look up Mfg of knee replacements none rang a bell.
Good Luck!

Snake eyes good luck with your operation. I need one done but holding out till the end. Call it crazy but around here don't trust to many doctors. Seems like some do fine and others don't and my luck I would be at the top of it didn't work out . Prays for you and keep us posted.

Docs have wanted to replace my left knee for 40+ years now (since a teenage injury left it pretty
much trashed). Lots of the usual draining and horse shots, then I stopped all that cold in my early
20's. Told them they could have it when I couldn't make it move anymore....
Visions of James Garner and Tommy Lasorda (both had their knees replaced way back then and
walked like it) danced in my head when contemplating replacement.

The 3am ritual when I wake up is to grab it and un-lock it every morning, as quietly as I can.
Lip biting stuff, lots of cursing under breath.
Thought I was doing a good job of that, only to have my wife recently inform me that I managed
to wake her up most mornings doing so for all these years, but she never said a word.
She knows...

What I'm saying here is if they're giving you a good shot at a better life then HELL YES, go for it!
Best of luck, prayers will be said on your behalf.

I had both my knees replaced at the same time back in 2007. What I regret prior to surgery is that I did not get into the Gym to strengthen my upper body. Because if you decide to have both knees done at the same time you are relying on your upper body strength to get you up and walking the next day after surgery.
I would also recommend pool therapy, I was fortunate because I had a pool at home to rehab in. If you take any advice this is the key. While you are prescribed pain meds take advantage of them and bust your *** thru therapy even though it's painful. Many people have bad results because rehab is painful.
My surgeon would not have done both bilateral knee surgery if I did not commit to busting my *** thru rehab. My results were spectacular because have the best range of motion that could be expected. I can kneel on my knees, sit Indian style, squat like a catcher and lift heavy objects over 150lbs without pain. there is nothing I don't do except run and jump. (I never jump off the tailgate of my truck)
It has been twelve years since my knee replacements and I was bone to bone on both knees and was bowlegged.. I'm very satisfied with my outcome.
My prosthesis was made by Stryker. I hope this gives you an idea of bilateral knee surgery. PM if you would like more info.

That's a coincidence that you need left shoulder replacement also. I had my left shoulder replaced 3 years ago. I can say that the shoulder rehab was more annoying than the knee surgery. I have much more shoulder pain than I do on my knees. Maybe because my shoulder socket was so worn out they couldn't replace it because they do not make a socket that large. So they had to put the biggest ball on the end of my arm to take up space in the socket. So instead of having bone on bone in my shoulder, I have bone on titanium. Painful but better than before. And I have about 90% range of motion and no weight restrictions. Which means I can lift anything over my head that my pain threshold allows.
