Knee Replacement

since being on medical I have had a weight gain from not being able to go for long walks or do to much because of my shoulder damage like about 50 lbs

hope that I will be able to kneel to work on my cars and bike and climb ladders ,plus be able to care for my horses I asked him about riding my dirt bikes or racing he told at 70 I should consider retiring I told him its not an option
I climb ladders, work on my cars (sitting Indian Style sure makes brake jobs easier), and ride quads. Just remember be very careful on a ladder because many injuries are caused by ladder falls. Also if you fall from a ladder I would not want to land on my feet or shoulder with prothesis, just saying.

I can relate to your position. Try to do as much as you can prior to surgery. You will be grateful after surgery and rehab.

You will do what you want to do no matter what the doctors say. I'm thinking you play by your own rules and screw the rest.

I had the left knee replaced and it turned out great. My wife had both done the same day and she's pretty good (to much weight has caused some problems-that's on her). Doing both at once keeps you from favoring one and you only go through all the BS one time. I bought some gel insert knee pads and have no issues kneeling on concrete. Good luck!

just wonder if this is the best type that i should get don`t want to go through this several times I've heard mixed reviews on the different types that are used and have heard of horror stories about having to go through the surgery all over because of one thing or another the last three years of not being able to do much of anything

Horror stories are always out there. In 2006 around time I had to have my first knee done there was a recall on a brand of knee replacement hardware.

good luck with the surgeries Dale @snakeyes
rehab will be the tell all

I don't know enough about the replacements
to make any kind of suggestions

I have family & friends that have had hip replacements
& back surgeries
no Knee replacement "yet"

thank goodness, I don't need it

I pretty much healed up my shoulders, knees & elbows
Carpenter/Construction types of work issues
when I started doing more consulting, than physical work

I can't do much work on my knees, just too uncomfortable
can barely stand it with really good gel filled style kneepads
(I lost, or left somewhere)
but not at any level, that I'll I need any type of surgeries

I got use to doing work off a little stool
a short plastic Rubermaid tool box/stool or a roll around mechanic seat
or I just sit down on a creeper

Yeah, I got one of those low sitting hydraulic adjustable stools from Harbor Freight as well.
Kneeling on anything other than padded carpet is a no-no for more than a second or two.
The stool is annoying but you get used to it...
