LA timing cover install - does anyone use the felt seal?

Had a gasket leak, so I'm replacing the timing cover gaskets. No instructions, but mostly it's easy to figure out. Except that felt seal... where does it go? Is it needed? I didn't pull one off the crank, so I'm not sure if it should have the new one. Any help, pics, etc., appreciated. Can't find this info anywhere.

I figured it out, it goes on the outside of the timing cover inside the back side of the damper. Thanks! This post can be deleted
