Hello, I did a search and found alot of broken tach related threads, but nothing on a lazy tach...

'70 Super Bee, tic toc tach, I finally got around to installing the under hood wire from wiring kit to the coil. To my surprise the tach sprang to life when I started to motor. It jumped up to about 2000 RPM then settled to 1200 RMP once the engine warmed up (I don't think the engine is idling that high), I went out for a cruise and noticed the tach seems to advance pretty smooth, but as I go through the gears it will get up to 4000-4500 and not drop much between shifts. At 60 MPH (3:23 gears) it shows about 4000 RPM. Rebuild time? Any fixes?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm.....maybe a drop or two of 3-in-1 oil on the needle pivot???

If you have an original tach with an electronic ignition, it will do goofy things. It was set to run with points. You can have your tach converted by several different places. I like Shannon at Redline.

Ahh that is probably it, we did convert it over. OK Thank you!
