I bought a nice PA State Police Commemorative Smith & Wesson Model 19 off gunbroker.com last week. It's a tough gun to find and they aren't cheap. The revolver was supposed to be delivered to my dealer today, but instead went to the home address of the guy who owns the store and holds the FFL, and he lives in a gated community. Worse, he's on vacation for two weeks, so no one is there to sign for it. All this happened because the dealer in PA used the mailing address on the FFL instead of the premises address like he was supposed to. When I called him on this, he told me he had been selling guns for 20 years and always shipped to the mailing address, and I told him my sons and I have bought 23 guns through this dealer, and he's the only one who ever shipped to the mailing address. So either the other 22 shippers are wrong, or he is.

Anyway, the lesson I learned is this guy refused to take payment using paypal or a credit card. Had to be a USPS money order or certified check. This was the third time I've bought a gun from someone with this requirement, and there have been problems all three times. The guns I bought from guys who take paypal or credit cards always sail through. I used to think these guys hated paying the fees, but I'm now guessing these doofs have a history of screwing up and pissing off customers, and when a customer complains to paypal or a credit card company, they will freeze those funds until the issue gets resolved (I know paypal does), whereas if you pay with a money order, they have the money and you're stuck negotiating with them on their terms.

So I told the boys tonight, from now on, no matter how good a price or deal something is, we aren't buying from anyone who won't take paypal or credit cards.

So now you know how Californian's feel having to wait 10 days on a purchase before pick up.
