Who else drives with left foot for the brake and right foot on the gas? Obviously Automatic cars and trucks not stick shifts.
I have always driven this way.
Saved me on more than one occasion.
Particularly when backing.
You are NOT quicker in a emergency situation to take your right foot off the gas and apply to the brake. I don't car how fast you think you are. Millie seconds count when in a emergency situation. I hover/rest my left foot over the brake.
While backing out of my garage I have my left foot on the brake. On one occasion I thought that I had opened the garage door bay that I was in and it was the other door, As soon as I bumped the closed door I instantly put on the brake, minor damage to the door and no damage to the car. Had I needed to lift my right foot off the gas and appley the brake, I would have been half way through the garage door.
Okay beat me up.....LOL

No, I'm not a brake-rider with the brake lights on constantly, even while accelerating...that annoys the sh!t out of me, too.
