Legal issue with VIN on a B-J car today?

Did y'all hear about the '69 GTX convertible at Barrett-Jackson that got the VIN and fender tag removed on?
Apparently the state of Arizona did it at the auction?

Exactly I watched the video and replied and just saw you saw the same as I did..

He'll be joining FBBO soon (if not already done so) and will be asking where he can get a new plate and new tag made. Also, he probably has an option or two he wants to add to the fender tag for that one-of-one status.

Probably has aftermarket suspension, it pulled so hard on a turn, the VIN shifted off to the side.

the car is a turd he paid $40,000 to much for it. I looked it over. It was hit real hard drivers side front. Inner fender was 1/4 thick of filler. A lot more issues

B-J always struck me as being a gathering of "more money than sense" types.
Just watching on TV, there seems to be no shortage of them - but admittedly, I do feel a tinge of envy, too.

So - I guess whoever presented this "GTX" for auction isn't in any legal trouble then?
