Let's sue Lowes, they said

So freakin' typical of CA and the Ambulance Chasers. For a long time now the actual dimensions of lumber has been less than stated. It isn't the Big Box Stores and Lumber Yards doing it. It comes from the lumber processors and Mills. They lowered the dims in order to conserve the amount of timber harvested and used. It's been years since an actual 2 X 4 was 2 X 4 inches. It is still referred that way but it has been a long time one actually was available unless a private timber harvest and the buyer has the processor cut it to actual 2 X 4 dims. That is also why the framing studs of walls is now at 16 inches which is less than before...cr8crshr/Tuck
 
The operative word is nominal.
I see this a continued dumbing down of people.
Next we will need safety warnings not to hit yourself on the head with wood.

IMHFO Just another stupid frivolous lawsuit, should have never been in court,
logic & some minor research, would dictate that....

if it happens here in Calif., it'll happen elsewhere too, just wait & see...

like others have said the size of "milled 2 x 4's haven't been 2" x 4" in my lifetime",
it's supposed to actually be after milling 1-5/8" x 3-5/8" after being milled all 4 sides,
it actually starts out as a green 2"x 4" in rough lumber

What they need to do is say after milling, kind of like hamburger joints say half pound before cooking.

I am very disappointed Lowes cowered to this idiocracy.

So why don't every other lumber supplier in CA get sued too?

They have been undersized for decades too...

It's as bad as suing Mc Donalds for hot coffee, which was done already.

California continues to make it hard for businesses to survive the Liberal atmosphere and with all the regulations expenses and high taxes it's hardly worth the effort.
It's an absolute shame because it's such a beautiful state highly diversified, I had to move out of there about 12 years ago. We could see the political change and a hostile business climate and it was one of the best decisions I've made.
I guess with a Million Six in their coffers, they can take care of a few thousand more illegals.
 
That settlement was a drop in the bucket for Lowes. They made a dollar and cent decision to settle and now its up to someone else to put a stop to this nonsense. Its no different then when insurance companies got fed up with nickel and dime law suites. People were suing left and right when in reality there was no injury. The insurance company would settle for a small amount rather than go to trial as it was to expense to do so. What happened is some companies had enough and went to trial. This was told to me by a attorney when we were sued after my wife tapped someone bumper at a stop sign. We both had the same insurance company except she was on assisgned risk policy. She was represented by the insurance company's attorney and the insurance company had to hire another lawyer for me. At the depostion my wife was questioned for maybe ten minutes,they had the other person on the stand for a hour and a half. My wife told me she saw the sweat dripping down the persons face as she was grilled over her phony claim. The lawsuite went no were and i never heard another word about it
 
I can't add anything that hasn't already been said. Now I'll just wait for the jokes to start coming out.
 
Now we can all pay more for stuff at Lowe's. To put in the pocket of the scum sucking Lawyers.
 
The even more f$$ked part is all those counties except stanislaus are filthy rich already! An a certain percentage of Stanislaus is rich because it has pine crest lake and huge mountain cabins a small percent though. But remember not all of us are like that so be careful when taking your trash about my state I have southern boy blood but born here so stay on topic or else :)
 
The root of this problem is that there is NO COST and NO RISK to those people who bring on these lawsuits. And the big companies who want it of their books and pay out a "small amount" (for them) just keep breeding more of them.

The simple solution is to make the loser pay reasonable court costs. THEN we will see how many people bring up these dumb *** law suits...
 
Wow! I think I learned that in grade school "freakin idiots". I guess it would make sense to call it what it is instead of what it started out as but still.
 
All this brought by the complete IDIOTS who are "supposed" to be looking out for our best interests???? Aren't there about 500 bajillion OTHER things MORE important than this. Cuss word, cussword,cussword, derogatory term, derogatory term, cuss word!!!
